Our wedding venue is booked: Mono Community Centre

We have a venue.

After the quiet search that turned into a real frontrunner, we can finally say it out loud: we're getting married at the Mono Community Centre on 07/17/27. The two of us still can't quite believe how cleanly the pieces fell into place.

Second on the list, first to luck out

We weren't first in line. There was another couple ahead of us on the hold for our date, and we were ready for the news to break the other way. It didn't. They passed, and that same day an email landed in Kerry's inbox from Shelby, the town's recreation admin (who has been an absolute gem to work with, genuinely, she deserves a shout from the rooftops). Kerry had already toured the property once, but Shane hadn't, so the two of us drove out that afternoon to walk it together. By the end of the day the contract was in our inbox and the venue was officially ours.

For a wedding built around a date stacked with sevens (a "lucky in love" theme that we picked on purpose), getting the venue we wanted on the day we wanted, while sitting second on the list, felt a little on the nose. We'll take it.

The whole property, just us

The part that still feels like a gift: we'll be the only wedding on the property that weekend. No double-booked grounds, no overlapping load-ins, no sharing the gazebo for photos. The 15-acre park, the banquet hall, the deck, the gazebo, the bar space, all of it is ours for the weekend.

That's the thing we kept coming back to when we were comparing places. We didn't want to feel like one slot on a busy Saturday. We wanted somewhere that felt like a home away from home for everyone we love, even if just for a couple of days. This is that.

What's already locked in

We didn't waste the momentum. As of this week we've already confirmed:

• The venue (obviously)
• Our photographer
• Our DJ
• A handful of other pieces we're not quite ready to spill yet

After months of quotes, tours, and spreadsheets, it's a strange and wonderful feeling to have this many "yes" answers on the board at once.

Vendors coming soon

We're going to do a proper vendor reveal in a future post, with names, links, and why we picked each one. They deserve more than a footnote, and we want to give them a real introduction.

For now, we're just elated. Settled. Finally able to picture the day in a specific place, on specific ground, with specific light. That's been the missing piece for a long time, and now it's not missing anymore.
