An all-white engagement party at Dave & Buster's Vaughan: our July 4 recap

Saturday, July 4, 2026. Dave & Buster's in Vaughan, 5 to 8 PM, and a dress code that took over the room: all white. Our engagement party was the warm-up round before the wedding on 07.17.27, and it turned out exactly the way we hoped, loud, warm, and full of people we love.

Why all white

The dress code was a wink to the night Shane proposed. He popped the question on the all-white night aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise, on the main staircase in the middle of the ship. Bringing that same all-white energy into a room full of friends and family in Vaughan felt like the right way to open this next chapter together.

The highs of the night

Walking into a room where everyone showed up in white was, honestly, a moment. With everyone else in white, we (actually, Shane) chose to show up in pink! The pink & white K&S marquee lights, the balloon clusters in white and blush pink, the handmade floral arch, it all mashed together into something that felt distinctly us.

The cupcake tower deserves its own mention. With a floral arch in the background, constructed by Shane and decorated by Kerry, all of the colourful frosting with the letters K and S glowing on either side... It was one of those setups that photographed even better than it looked in person, and it looked incredible in person!!

Kerry's bridesmaid ask

Tucked inside all of the energy of the day, Kerry pulled her bridesmaids aside, the ones who were able to be there in person, and formally asked them to stand with her on 07.17.27. She shared handmade mini bouquets with them as a reference to the larger bouquets they'd be holding as they surrounded her at her wedding. There wasn't a big reveal. Just a small circle, and yeses all around. Asks to a couple of the girls who couldn't make it are still coming, and we'll share more once everyone has been asked!

Kiss-kiss

Nothing sweeter than watching the newly engaged couple sharing a genuinely heartfelt kiss among their loved ones. Watch the moment: engagement party kisses (video).

What's next

The warm-up round is done, with more events to come. If you want to follow along, we're documenting the whole road to the wedding in the journal, and you can find the wedding details here.

Thank you to every single person who showed up in white for us. This was the loudest, warmest yes we could have asked for.
