And so it begins: planning
Wedding planning is, it turns out, mostly spreadsheets.
The big rocks are starting to settle into place, though, and we figured we'd share where our heads are at.
The vibe
Grounded and outdoors.
Open air, lots of green, the kind of natural light that makes everyone look like the best version of themselves. As the sun drops, we want warm candlelight to take over - string bulbs, hurricane lanterns, nothing fussy. Comfortable seating, real food, no white-tablecloth stiffness. The goal is a long dinner party with the people we love most, just one that happens to be under a sky.
The music question
This one is bigger than we thought.
We're hunting for a DJ who can - and we mean this seriously - mashup Disney soundtracks with soca. Is that a thing? Is that allowed? We genuinely don't know. We're going to find out. If you know someone who could pull it off without it sounding like a cursed children's birthday party, please send them our way.
If you have a song that screams "Shane & Kerry" to you, send it our way. We're building a shared playlist and the best requests are landing on the actual setlist.
What's next
Locking the wedding venue
Planning the engagement events and figuring out who's helping with what
Booking the photographer
Starting the guest list conversation in earnest
We'll keep posting updates here as decisions get made. Some of it will be sweet, some of it will be us complaining about table linens. Both are part of it.
