How we got here
It started at Tracks in downtown Brampton on a night I almost didn't go out.
Shane was on his way out the door when he heard me from across the room. He turned around, came over, and asked for my number. I gave it to him expecting nothing - I'd given my number to plenty of guys who never followed through.
He followed through.
The slow part
For weeks we kept running into each other at the same bar. Long conversations spilling past last call. He'd text the next day. Then the next.
It wasn't dramatic. It wasn't a movie scene. It was just consistent, in a way I hadn't experienced before. Every time I expected him to disappear, he didn't.
"Same bar, same two people, until eventually it stopped feeling like a coincidence."
The line in the sand
A few months in, I told him the truth: I was tired of half-things. If he wasn't going to commit, I needed him to stop talking to me.
He didn't flinch. He chose us.
He's been choosing us ever since.
Lucky sevens
We picked 07.17.27 because if we were going to bet on anything, it was going to be each other. The date is a wink - a reminder that the best things in our life have come from showing up, all in, no hedging.
More to come as we get closer. Thanks for being here for the ride.
